Hasselblad in early July introduced its new CFV-39 digital back equipped with 1394b, a custom built camera to match the design and functionality of Hasselblad V cameras. The CFV-39 turns every V camera into an easy-to-use digital workhorse. With 1394b and many other leading edge digital technology features, the 39-megapixel back incorporates a sensor twice the size of premier DSLRs. It also features two capture modes and a new digital lens correction technology for Carl Zeiss lenses, powered by Mac- and Windows-compatible Phocus image processing software. Quickly and easily, the Hasselblad CFV-39 can transform a V System film camera into a high-performance digital camera. All V System cameras operate cable-free. The 202 FA, 203 FE, and 205 FCC are supported. Other 200 and 2000 series models can be used with C-type lenses only.
All F and FE lenses work with the CFV-39 using 202FA, 203FE and also the 205TCC/FCC, for which the camera requires slight modification. There are two selectable image formats: square (29 megapixel, 5412x5412) and rectangular (39 megapixel, 5412x7212 pixels), and the sensor is 100 percent larger than a full-frame 35mm DSLR sensor. Pricing starts at $13,000. www.hasselbladusa.com/products/digital-backs/cfv-39.aspx
The F-503 from Allied Vision Technologies is the latest addition to the GUPPY range of ultra compact, space-saving IEEE 1394 cameras for industrial and scientific OEMs, system integrators and resellers. The new cameras are available in both color and black/white versions with a highly-sensitive 2592 x 1944 (5 Megapixel) Micron/Aptina QWXGA 1/2.5" rolling shutter CMOS sensor.
The camera offers an external asynchronous trigger shutter and operates in 8-bit mode. At full image resolution, the AVT GUPPY F-503B/C offers up to 6.5 fps and is thus particularly suited for use in industrial image processing and product automation. Other features include 2x and 4x binning as well as image sub-sampling. It can also record image sequences automatically (multi-shot) or to define areas of interest (AOI). Extensive built-in image pre-processing capabilities provide outstanding image quality, reduced image manipulation, less load on the system and higher performance overall.
Offering a highly cost-effective entry into high resolution digital image processing, these new models offer a highly practical alternative for applications where interlaced analog cameras and frame grabbers have traditionally been used. Integrated Smart Functions take over essential functions of the frame-grabber. The F503b/c can be easily integrated into existing applications thanks to its powerful and flexible API. From L1- Identity Solutions comes the FireWire-equipped TouchPrint™ Enhanced Definition 4800, the first live scanner that can capture all types of high quality images with an innovative, single platen design. The scanner has the smallest cubic footprint and lightest weight of any palm scanner. An IP65 ingress protection-rated enclosure prevents damage from dust, debris and water, making the TouchPrint ED 4800 durable. A single platen captures all types of high-quality images using advanced technologies such as Moisture Discriminating Optics™ to ignore the effects of moisture and Enhanced Definition image technology. Both are available with the TouchPrint ED 4800.
With the FireWire IEEE 1394 (OHCI compliant) interface, the TouchPrint ED 4800 can accommodate various system configurations. It can be used as a standalone unit, or customers with a TouchPrint ED 3XXX series live scan system can pair the TouchPrint ED 4800 in a side-by-side, tabletop configuration
to add the incremental capture of palm and writer’s edge. Also, cabinet and kiosk vendors can easily incorporate the TouchPrint ED 4800 scanner.
L1- Identity also has introduced the TouchPrint™ Enhanced Definition 4100 Slap and Roll Live Scan and FaceIt® Argus Facial Screening, with IEEE 1394 for image and data transfer. For more information, visit www.l1id.com/ or access data sheets here.
Tenori Pop is NTT IT’s newest application of interactive projection technology using hands for the interactive trigger, controller and display screen – and 1394 to transmit video images. The technology enables the ‘impression’ that images projected on a background can be transferred to one’s hand or hands and then manipulated for magical visual effects. For example, users can take the image projected onto the palm of one hand and a different image projected onto the palm of the other hand and combine them to create a third image.
The technology uses a camera with an IEEE1394 connection, an LCD projector of at least 4000ANSI lumens brightness and a PC. The projector lens is set at a height of 7.9 to 13.1 feet (2.4 to 4.0 meters). The specified PC uses the Windows XP Professional operating system and a Core2Duo 2.66GHz or higher processor. Applications for the technology include advertising media at events, images produced in public indoor space, and as a learning tool at an art gallery, museum or exhibit, where users can represent chemical reactions, biological processes or even the laws of physics by using their hands and Tenori Pop to interact with an exhibit.
Pricing has not been listed for this new 1394-equipped interactive projection technology.
