Even through this summer, the Trade Association’s been busy. We had an excellent third quarter general meeting at Fujitsu, and we thank our member company for its hospitality in mid-July. At that session, we discussed upcoming events at which the TA can be involved, and have decided to attend Convergence 2010, the biennial automotive technology conference in Detroit. This year, it’s scheduled for Oct. 19-20, and we’ll be in booth 1019. We’re looking forward to providing a demonstration of 1394-Automotive, which will be managed by Richard Mourn and Tina Lipscomb. It will provide auto company representatives, suppliers, industry analysts, and members of the media with all the benefits of our complete innovative infotainment auto network.
In connection with our automotive efforts, Dave Thompson of LSI will attend the annual CVTA Summit, September 29-30 in Troy, Michigan. He will present on behalf of the Trade Association. This is an excellent and always welcome venue for our 1394-Automotive message.
Also in this month’s newsletter, you’ll find a set of articles on how 1394 is making inroads into long haul industrial, vision, and other applications. Thanks to Les Baxter, Zeph Freeman of EqcoLogic, and Theo Sosonis of Unibrain for their timely and well written contributions. All the 1394 long haul design articles are on the 1394TA website and were also published on one of Electronic Engineering Times’ most popular, well-read websites, http://www.eetimes.com/design/industrial-control/4206075/IEEE-1394-ideal-for-long-haul
After Convergence in Detroit, we are off to Taipei for our fourth quarter meeting, and a celebration of the 1394 TA’s 15th year of operation. We’ll provide updates and details on this special event as we move closer.
