1394 TRADE ASSOCIATION PRESS RELEASE LSI, Comoss, Lead Successful
Taipei FireWire Plugfest Hosted by 1394 Trade Association Dallas, May 7, 2008 -- The 1394 Trade Association conducted its latest compliance workshop in Taipei, Taiwan, last month, bringing together a leading group of 1394-enabled products and technologies in the latest compliance and interoperability testing program. Co-sponsors for the event included LSI, one of the leading manufacturers of advanced 1394 ICs, and Comoss, based in Taiwan, one of the leaders in interconnect technology. A total of ten different Taiwan- based suppliers of more than a dozen 1394-enabled products ran through the extensive compliance testing, provided by Allion Test Labs of Taiwan. The TA tested a total of 14 different 1394a and 1394b products, ranging from storage drives to PCs. By having companies take part in the 1394 Trade Association plugfests, it is simple and convenient to review any design issues or check for any minor product debugging that might be required, according to James Snider, 1394 Trade Association executive director. "The plugfests are very valuable to the Trade Association," said Snider. "We learn from them, and it gives us the opportunity to meet and work closely with companies that are developing new 1394-equipped products and systems. It also provides the opportunity to apply any required debugging quickly and efficiently to ensure products interoperate optimally. We appreciate the efforts and support of all the companies who took part in this important event." Now in its 14th year, the 1394 Trade Association is a worldwide organization dedicated to the advancement and enhancement of the IEEE 1394 (FireWire) standard.
