1394 Trade Association Defining New 1394b Compliance Program

Microsoft announced support for 1394b in Vista in May 2006. This was publicized in an article in EETimes.

The Microsoft Windows Logo Program Requirements, V 3.0, requires all IEEE 1394 OHCI controllers and IEEE 1394 devices to meet industry standards. The members of the 1394 Trade Association set the Industry standard. 1394TA members are the only companies who have access to the test documents before they become final standards. Once they become public documents, the ability to influence them goes away.

If you are interested in participating in this activity, the 1394TA membership application form is available here. I urge you to start the membership application process as soon as possible to take full advantage of the meetings at which these standards are developed.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I hope to see you at future meetings of the 1394TA.

James Snider
Executive Director
