HANA - The High-Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance

HANA is a cross-industry alliance dedicated to providing consumers with a proven and simple way to bring HD to life throughout their homes. HANA solutions enable the sharing of premium quality HD content across audio-video devices all in a trusted environment.

In September of 2009, the 1394 Trade Association assumed control of all HANA-generated intellectual property when HANA was dissolved.

HANA 2.0 DESIGN GUIDELINE

HANA has released the HANA 2.0 Design Guideline. This guideline provides the necessary information to enable manufacturers to create new, interoperable networked devices.

HANA 2.0 provides a rich set of features designed to support the needs of both the supply side and consumer side of the home entertainment network.

• High-speed guaranteed Quality of Service networking
• Whole home sharing of a minimum of 5 HD content streams
• A simple browser/server architecture to provide a rich Graphical User Interface for menu navigation
• Use of industry standard Internet Protocols
• True plug-and-play simplicity for consumers
• Flexible design rules allowing manufacturers and developers to create innovative products and services
• Content and cable industry approved DTCP link protection (5C) to secure content on the network

HANA has developed a standards-based framework that delivers interoperability among home-entertainment devices.

MISSION

The 1394 Trade Association actively promotes the proliferation of the IEEE 1394 Serial Bus standard technology into the computer, consumer, peripheral, and industrial markets to enable a truly interoperable, standardized, universal I/O and back plane interconnect.

The 1394 TA provides members the opportunity to achieve this mission. We organize and hold Quarterly Meetings and Developer's Conferences, and attend Tradeshows and related seminars as a means by which the members can work together on the use of IEEE 1394 to expand all target markets
