WHAT WE DO
Overview.
The 1394 Trade Association actively promotes the proliferation of the
IEEE 1394 Serial Bus standard. We serve the interests of all companies
working to develop products and services related to 1394 in markets including
automobiles, computers, consumer electronics, peripherals, and industrial applications.
We are dedicated to developing a truly interoperable, standardized, universal
I/O and back plane interconnect.
Engineering Activities.
Our membership - currently over 80 companies from around the world
- works to create standards necessary to the development of 1394-enabled
products. We also support work that extends the base 1394 specification.
Working Groups.
Face to face working group meetings are held quarterly in locations around the world. Off-cycle meetings and task groups are formed on an as needed basis to focus on particular projects. All working groups are chaired by experts in their field and all work group members are kept up-to-date by private email reflectors for their group. Current and future work is monitored by the board of directors to insure adherence to our mission of supporting and extending the base 1394 specification.
Marketing Activities.
We strive to partner with our member companies to promote 1394 products and the companies who market them. Our activities include joint press ventures, technical papers, tradeshows and web site promotions. We work with the media to promote the benefits of 1394 and provide information regarding upcoming products and advancements in 1394. Showcasing 1394 products and services from our member companies is a top priority in our marketing plan. As a member company you are given the opportunity to connect with potential customers through our Ask The Experts program and to share your knowledge with consumers and other member companies as well.
