Board Layout - Many subtle design mistakes can make high speed boards fail intermittently, requiring hours of debugging. The design guidelines in this presentation help the designer avoid the most common mistakes. Included are schematic recommendations, layout recommendations and verification guides.

Base Test - In preparing for 1394 compliance testing, it is useful to know what is being tested to make sure your product succeeds. This presentation provides a full overview of 1394 compliance testing, including tests for termination, data/strobe signals, beta signaling, cable power, and protocols.

Cable Power - One of the most misunderstood areas of 1394 product design is cable power. This presentation explains the competitive benefits of implementing power correctly. It also covers safety issues associated with providing cable power, and provides guidelines to avoid product damage from making inaccurate assumptions.

GUID - One of the most common failures of products submitted for compliance testing is the improper assigning of GUIDs. This is also one of the easiest problems to correct. This presentation defines what GUIDs are and why they are vitally important. It also provides examples of the many tools available to verify the GUID assignment.
