UStec to demonstrate HDTV networking with its tecStream product

Orlando, FL – March 24, 2006 – UStec, a leader in digital home-networking, announced today that it will demonstrate a prototype firmware upgrade to its tecStream network that supports high definition televisions (HDTVs). The HDTV demonstration at Electronic House Expo (EHX) 2006 in Orlando, booth #934, will stream recorded HDTV content digitally to an IEEE1394 HDTV.

The current tecStream product, available on the market since August 2005, enables multi-room distribution of video, audio, infrared control, Ethernet and power for tecStream over a single Cat-5 cable, allowing users to access audio-video content from any device on the tecStream network.

While the version of tecStream currently on the market does not yet support the networking of HD devices such as HD set-top boxes and HDTVs, it is already capable of distributing 16 HD video streams simultaneously throughout the home, and has the IEEE1394 connectivity required to network IEEE1394 devices such as HD cable set-top boxes and HDTVs.

“We are now one step closer to providing consumers and A/V dealers with the ultimate multi-room HD video distribution solution they have been waiting for, and this over one single Cat 5 cable!” said UStec President Bill Thompson. “This demonstration highlights tecStream’s capability to support HD devices such as IEEE1394 HDTVs through a simple firmware upgrade.”

This new HDTV demonstration will feature the very high quality of HD video distribution achieved by tecStream, thanks to its patented switching technology and IEEE1394 HD networking. It will also feature easy and quick access from an IEEE1394 HDTV to any A/V content on the tecStream network.
