1394 TRADE ASSOCIATION PRESS RELEASE
Elka, MainSuper Ltd. Join Comoss, Newnex in Earning 1394a Cable Compliance Logo from the 1394 Trade Association
Dallas, Nov. 27, 2007 – Elka International and MainSuper Co. Ltd. of Taiwan, which have become leading suppliers of 1394-equipped cable and connector products, are the latest companies to earn the 1394 Trade Association’s compliance logo for their 1394a cables and connectors. The compliance logo indicates that specific products comply with the 1394 Trade Association’s Cable and Connector Compliance Test Specification.
Elka and MainSuper join Comoss and Newnex Corporation in completing the compliance test program. Elka was awarded the compliance logo for their 6-circuit and 4-circuit cable assemblies. Main Super has been awarded the logo for its 6-circuit and 4-circuit connectors.
“We continue to make significant progress in ensuring that the leading cable and connector suppliers meet the compliance requirements,” said James Snider, executive director of the 1394 Trade Association. “All 1394-equipped products – from hard drives to cameras to scanners to computers – must use cables and connectors that meet our compliance requirements in order to be certified as 1394-compliant. Having the leading connector and cable manufacturers step up to this requirement is a very positive development.”

The announcement was made at the quarterly 1394 Trade Association meeting, which was held in Taipei Nov. 13-16 and hosted by Elka, Comoss, MainSuper and ETC, a leading Taiwan-based test organization.
The Compliance Logo Program complements the IEEE 1394a standard. Companies can submit their cables and connectors to one of three certified test organizations – ETC, Contech Research or NTS – for certification.
The Cable and Connector Working Group of the 1394 Trade Association is now developing the process for 1394b cable/connector compliance. It is set to begin in early 2008. For more information about the 1394 Trade Association, please visit www.1394ta.org
